Bacon and Mushroom Rice 培根香菇饭

People often say it’s not economical to cook for one or two or even a small family because the ingredients and foodstuffs you are paying are probably more expensive than what you would incur if you dine outside. Although it’s probably true to a certain extent, but some benefits like healthy home cooked food and time consumed queuing for food at a hawker of food court are also considerations which should be justified when making a dine out experience worthwhile.

In fact, there can be several ways which you can stretch your dollar to the limit too if you make an effort to do some good sourcing. So here’s one for your recommendation – Kong Que Foodstuff actually sells their basic cooking necessities (like our rice, oil, sugar and flours) in bulk quantities at really a fraction of retail prices and what’s more they are bundled them in such a way that not only maximise economical savings, it also ensure you get all your basic “柴米油盐” at a one stop portal.

First and foremost, I am sure you must be wondering how you are ever going to finish a 15kg or even a 10kg pack of rice, 5L of water, 30 eggs for a family of 2 to 3. Is that probably going to take donkey years to happen till all the foods gonna turn mouldy and you probably have to discard them as such. Well, fret not I am sure there can be better plans than that to even happen.

Even when we take transport nowadays, there’s such thing as co-sharing and so the same concept can applies too ! Gather all your kampong mates, neighbours, close knitted, extended families members and share the “loot”. Get everything ordered in bulk and co-share them to maximise the most savings. That’s how Kong Que Foodstuff works here.

And after trying out the rice which Kong Que Foodstuff carries, to whip up this really fuss free and aromatic Bacon and Mushroom rice, I must say it quite exceeded the expectations, despite the very economical price in which the rice is leveled at. It took me only one wash for the rice only and the quality was not in anyway less superior as compared to some of the premium competitors.

I guess the most attractive portion should be the cost savings you can manage to achieve from this bulk sharing scheme. Imagine paying below 100 bucks for 45kg of rice, 5L of olive oil, 30 eggs and 2kg of sugar. That’s really a steal, isn’t it ? And what’s more it comes with free delivery too. Gather and co-share this order with your neighbours or kampong mates and that makes everything totally worthwhile.

So do pass and share this piece of good news to your entire village ! 🙂

In the meantime, enjoy this awesomely delicious Bacon and Mushroom rice. But it’s not a fried rice for your information. The ingredients are stir fried briefly to bring out the aroma before adding everything in a rice cooker. It makes an awesome and simple weekday evening meal because everything can be served up easily in 30 minutes. Enjoy !!

Easy Cabbage and Mushroom Rice using Rice Cooker 简易高丽菜香菇饭

Hello !! I am finally penning down a blog post once again. LOL. Taking me ages to do it, isn’t it ? Actually I have been sharing quite often on IG recently, so if you wanna see what am I up to now, do remember to say HI over at IG ok ?

Actually this is an outdated recipe which I have posted on IG earlier, but for those who doesn’t IG, well don’t worry. I will still be updating this space of mine from time to time, for whatever recipes I’ve attempted.

And recently if you noticed my social media, I’ve also been sharing some cooking videos too. They are not so professionally done up, as they are filmed mainly using the mobile. But I guess it’s still alright for anyone who really wanna a quick glance on how to cook up certain stuffs. In time to come, perhaps when I have the luxury of time in my hands, I might get the real video camera, learn some video editing skills and share some real good videos ! Haha !! But in the meantime, please bear with this space and the mobile captures for the time being. Hopefully that can help to tide over whatever cooking crisis you might have.

This awesome Cabbage & Mushroom Rice is cooked using the rice cooker ! Basically it’s so noob cook friendly that you literally don’t need any skills to master. As long as you have a reliable rice cooker which I believe most of you should possess, all that you gotta do is to enjoy the fruits thereafter ! For this rice, I used roast pork which is store bought. However if you wanna attempt to make your own crackling roast pork, here’s one recipe for you too !

As you can see, I am always having ingredients that’s literally more than rice ! Haha !! That somehow makes me feel more contented as my tummy will be full with more of the ingredients that I liked rather than surviving on a whole lot of starchy rice.

So here you go for this really awesome and simple recipe and if you liked to see how I’ve done it, here’s a little video clip embedded for your easy reference.

Sesame Oil Chicken & Mushroom Rice

Sesame Oil Chicken & Mushroom Rice – Eat What Tonight

Now that most of us have started to return back to office for work, such one-pot meals cooked conveniently vis the rice cooker definitely made cooking over the weekdays more convenient and fuss free. Usually I prefer to pre-cook the aromatics separately first to bring out the flavours before stirring in the rice to let the rice cooker finish up the job. You can prepare everything quickly in 15 minutes once you reach home from work. And when the rice is cooking in the rice cooker, you can perhaps take a shower or do some cleaning up and once you are done, the rice would be readily done up piping hot in the rice cooker for you to enjoy.

The Sesame Oil Chicken & Mushroom Rice is very very fragrant and the aroma of it is clearly visible even when the cooking was done vis the rice cooker. Every bit of the rice is packed with the fragrance of the sesame oil and the chicken with the mushrooms all complement it well to pack it as a one bowl meal. Even the cleaning up is a breeze as there’s only the rice cooker to be washed thereafter.

Sharing this awesome recipe here and hope you enjoy it as much as I do too. More one-bowl, one-plate and one-pot meals to come !

Mushroom & Spinach Sour Cream Pasta

I always thought that cooking cream is usually the way to whip up a good pasta but somehow after trying out this recipe, I am convinced that sour cream can also be a good alternative to achieve a tasty and flavourful pasta.

And if given a choice for pasta, I will always choose the one that comes with bacon as it releases a good aroma to the oil and enhance the pasta taste greatly. The crunchy bacon bits after frying is what I so-love about eating pasta with it as well. Other than bacon, I love a good blend of mushroom and spinach as they tend to bring out the colours and nutrients of the dish naturally.

It’s not easy to score a good pasta recipe and here’s one to begin with !
