Fish Slices with Sesame Sauce 芝麻酱鱼片

The blowing super hot and cool weather these days is seriously giving many people much of a headache. Especially when the kitchen feels like a furnace just when you wanna cook, a fuss free, quick and healthy cooking is all that you desire. These is one of those days where staying any longer in the furnace kitchen felt like you are going on fire !! Then just when you had finished cooking, the weather suddenly makes a 360 degrees turn and start pouring !

It’s really OMG, isn’t it ? So when Mizkan presents me with their range of varied sauces, you know I just can’t resist using them in my cooking because they are just so convenient and versatile.

More often than not, we often notice Sesame sauce being used in salads and greens as a salad dressing. But as the usual advocator of Chinese home cooked foods, I decide to incorporate Mizkan Sesame Sauce into some Toman Fish Fillets and did a simple stir fried of it with ginger and chilli padi and serve it simply with plain white rice or congee.

The gist of this dish lies in getting a smooth velvety fish fillet slices that’s well drizzle with sesame sauce and a dash of sesame oil at the end of it. Marinating the fish slices with each ingredient and mixing them well before adding the next one aids in allowing the fish to fully absorb the flavours of the marination. To prevent the fish slices from breaking up during stir frying, a prior blanch of them in some hot oil can do the trick nicely too.

And loving how the very fragrant Japanese made Sesame Sauce blends neatly with the fish slices at the end of it and the dash of sesame oil helps to bring out the entire flavours totally. Overall, it’s a very tasty and convenient to the max home-cooked dish that allows even the most noob cook to whip up with ths most minimal effort.

Once again, with much thanks to Mizkan for their sauces ~~ And also PurelyFresh online for presenting fresh groceries to me as always !! I know I am much blessed indeed ! 🙂

Grilled Mixed Mushrooms with Sesame Sauce 芝麻酱烤香菇

I have always love a touch of Japanese sesame sauce in my salads as compared to the usual salad dressing. However, very often that not, when we buy a bottle of sesame sauce as dressing for our salads, there will often be quite a fair bit of leftover because we only use a few spoonfuls each time. So what should we do with the balance sauce, if you may ask ?Well, other than cooking it with fish, as you may see from my recipe here, I also grilled some mixed mushrooms and added a touch of the sesame sauce with it this time. I enjoyed how the tenderness of the shrooms gets infused with the sesame sauce and creates an all new taste all together. The Japanese, as we all knew are renowned for their quality standard in their food ingredients. Mizkan, in particular, a long established brand in the industry, has well maintained their market leader status in the food industry market because of their consistency in quality and standards. Using one of their most popular items to date being the bottled sesame sauce, which encompasses a rich and luscious sesame fragrance made wholesomely from freshly grind sesame seeds, this simply fuss free dish makes a good appetiser or a comforting side dish in 15 minutes !I liked to address this as a wholly Mushrooms salad, which serves as a comforting deviation from our usual standard greens especially since it is served warm. And to top it up, I added some optional capsicums as well to brighten up the dish too !So if you are a mushrooms lover too, do give this a shot as it not only helps to clear up the balance sesame sauce sitting around, it also beefs up a fresh appetiser which you are unlikely to enjoy anywhere else ! That’s what killing two birds with one stone means !

Chinese Stir Fry with Chicken & Vegetables in Mizkan Sesame Sauce

Very thankful and blessed to be working with Mizkan once again for the 3rd year running ! We have come a long way in collaborating with Mizkan in innovating several recipes with its sesame sauce but we have never gotten tired of it still ! Because that’s just so many dishes that can be paired with this savory and tasty sesame sauce from Japan.

Commonly used as a salad seasoning, Mizkan’s sesame sauce with roasted nuts boosts of a tantalizing and nutty flavor. My previous post here actually detailed a full listing of all the recipes that was attempted with Mizkan’s products. This time, I decide to pursue an easy Chinese stir fry with Chicken and Vegetables in Sesame sauce.

Our home-cooked Chinese stir fry often evolves around oyster sauce, light soya sauce or the least still, salt or chicken powder. That led me to wonder if we can ever attempt something out of the box and that’s how this recipe is borne. A Japanese sesame sauce that’s commonly used in Western salads is now being cooked in a Chinese home-cooked menu. How does that sound ?

Well for once, it’s pretty awesome to me ! Because it made an effortless one plate dish that comprises of healthy vegetables and chicken breast meat. I never used to like chicken breast meat but amazingly, it tastes really succulent in this dish ! I’ve also compiled a quick one-minute video on the cooking of this which is shared on my Instagram here.

Hope you like enjoy this dish just liked how I did ! And I actually finished up my bowl of rice entirely with this dish alone ! Have a great weekend !

Sesame Oil Chicken & Mushroom Rice

Sesame Oil Chicken & Mushroom Rice – Eat What Tonight

Now that most of us have started to return back to office for work, such one-pot meals cooked conveniently vis the rice cooker definitely made cooking over the weekdays more convenient and fuss free. Usually I prefer to pre-cook the aromatics separately first to bring out the flavours before stirring in the rice to let the rice cooker finish up the job. You can prepare everything quickly in 15 minutes once you reach home from work. And when the rice is cooking in the rice cooker, you can perhaps take a shower or do some cleaning up and once you are done, the rice would be readily done up piping hot in the rice cooker for you to enjoy.

The Sesame Oil Chicken & Mushroom Rice is very very fragrant and the aroma of it is clearly visible even when the cooking was done vis the rice cooker. Every bit of the rice is packed with the fragrance of the sesame oil and the chicken with the mushrooms all complement it well to pack it as a one bowl meal. Even the cleaning up is a breeze as there’s only the rice cooker to be washed thereafter.

Sharing this awesome recipe here and hope you enjoy it as much as I do too. More one-bowl, one-plate and one-pot meals to come !
